(Let me preface this post with saying: IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PHOTOGRAPH THESE POLISHES. I can't wait for someone much more talented in that department to take better photos of these.)
The inspiration behind this collection is the weird and magical world of marine bioluminescence.
Bury the Hatchetfish
Photo above shows 3 thin coats of Bury the Hatchetfish on its own.
*My favorite layering combo(s) will be posted shortly!
Bury the Hatchetfish is a light brown jelly with glowing blue glass flecks and hexes.
The deep-sea Hatchetfish uses bioluminescence as a means of camouflaging itself from predators that lurk in the depths of the deep sea. The hatchetfish can actually become nearly invisible to predators below them by adjusting the lights on their underside to match the faint light penetrating from above.
Atolla
Photo above shows 2 thick-ish coats of Atolla on its own.
*My favorite layering combo(s) will be posted shortly!
Atolla is a very pink based red jelly with glowing blue glass flecks and hexes.
This polish is named for the Atolla Jellyfish - definitely one of my favorite jellyfish. This is one of the craziest, out of this world creatures I've ever seen and I love it. When threatened, Atolla Jellyfish emit bioluminescent light in order to attract larger prey to the scene to (hopefully) consume the original threat to the jellyfish.
(The final version of Atolla [the polish] ended up being much pinker than the Atolla Jellyfish. Just so we're clear on that :) .)
Electric Flame
Photo above shows 3 thin coats of Electric Flame on its own.
*My favorite layering combo(s) will be posted shortly!
Electric Flame is a peachy orange jelly with glowing blue and purple glass flecks and the same iridescent blue hexes. The effect is subtler in this polish.
This polish's namesake is the awesome Electric Flame Scallop. These crazy looking creatures have a strip of bioluminescent tissue over its mantle (which is believed to attract plankton.)
Medusa Luminosa
Photo above shows 3 thin coats of Medusa Luminosa on its own.
*My favorite layering combo(s) will be posted shortly!
Medusa Luminosa is a bright purple jelly with gold glass flecks, pink microglitter and glowing blue hexes.
This polish was named for the Pelagia noctiluca jelly fish, aka "the sea's light in the night," aka the Mauve Stinger... aka Medusa Luminosa (in Italian). Bioluminescent light is given off by the Medusa Luminosa in flashes as it is stimulated by turbulence in the water.
